The Jason Project lists 80 people who have been missing since 2007 in the states of Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont. But that’s not even close to all of them. It takes me a week to go through the list of missing persons, adding them to others I’ve found through the bureau database. In the end, after eliminating men and children under the age of 14, I come up with forty leads. All forty are potential victims of the Ice Cream Killer.

Those who remain on my list range in age from 18 to 43. Most are highly educated and have clean backgrounds. They tend to be single or at least not legally married. Most have some sort of connection to academia. This makes me think the killer might work at a college.

The cases of Amanda Cota and Betty Portland have convinced me that the killer has a connection to the state of New Hampshire university system. But, I can’t be sure. It doesn’t explain the five cases out of Connecticut and I can’t connect what a hitch-hiking single mother would have to do with a college campus. Note: Look up educational background of Christina Bownes. Was she taking classes or working on her GED? Was she looking to earn a degree?

I have no doubt that Ice Cream man values intellect. What’s interesting, though, is that it’s not typical of a serial killer. According to Dr. Mike Radford, a professor at Radford University, the average serial killer has a below average intelligence. An average IQ is 100. I found these facts, acquired by Radford, interesting. And, perhaps, it tells me something:
